Organic traffic vs refer traffic Organic traffic vs refer traffic, which one best convert?

Can bloggers succeed without traffic? Which type of traffic can bring about successful blogging? Which one are you critically working on?

All blogger have different opinion about this post, some believed in refer traffic while some works tirelessly to get rank on Google search engine for search traffic and the other side of the question now is why don’t we work toward getting same traffic source since we all need real and constant traffic to make our blog successful, although there is nothing bad about having different opinions and ways of doing thing to bring uniqueness and the best for what we love doing as a blogger.

Now, let discuss about this two great source of blog traffic and see which one is better for bloggers either newbie or problogger.

Organic traffic: Organic traffic is simply the traffic our blog receive from search engine like Google, Bing, and Yahoo depending on it keyword

Targeting search engine traffic is just like targeting the whole lot of internet users without letting out anybody as long as s/he make use of the internet either for fun or fun serious task or business.

Getting organic traffic has to with search engine indexing your blog which will require compulsory submission of your blog to search engines earlier mentioned under this headline and as well linking your blog webmaster tools to Google analytics to be able to monitor whether your blog is doing well or not, where your blog traffic are coming from, your blog bounce rate, what are your blog readers doing on your blog, the number of seconds, minutes etc. they spend on your blog and the total number of pages they view.

Do note that without submitting your blog to search engine and as well link your webmaster tools to Google analytics you cannot track all this activities.

Refer traffic: Refer traffic is a kind of traffic gotten from the link we share on social networks like Facebook, Twitter etc.,, blog communities like BlogEngage, Bizsugar, Blokube etc., bookmarking sites such as Digg, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, etc., article directory which include Goarticle, Google plus where our blog post is share with our friends, family, and fans to click through it and read. Hardly can we see a blogger without belonging to one or two Facebook group where sharing of blog post is accepted for other bloggers to click through the submitted URL, and some of this blog community; and read what we share with them to the extent of having boosting our blog comment through sharing our blog post on blogging communities we belong. And all what we are trying to do here is to drive traffic to our blog but this is referring to as refer traffic, though traffic is traffic but…

Organic traffic vs refer traffic, which one convert?

I just keep asking myself this simple question which I believed most bloggers also might having being reasoning the way I have if we have the same reasoning faculty or if such blogger wonder why some bloggers focus on Facebook and twitter and while some focus mainly on search engine following the power of keyword research and blog SEO to rank higher on search engine based on the keyword.

From the conclusion I arrived at, search engine traffic is the best but the negative effect can be brutal. Yes, I mean it… Traffic that comes from search engine have a specific purpose for coming to your site which may not only be to read through your blog update, as far as it is from search engine, the chance of clicking on your Ads is very high because what brought such research to your blog is likely to be displayed by your blog Ads at that time if your monetize your blog with advisement and also, the chance of clicking on your affiliated product is very high when compare to a friend who only want to visit your blog and leave a comment, traffic that is coming right from search engine followed a particular keyword and is what landed researcher on your blog and chances are that to click on your Ads since related Ads to the keyword that landed researcher on your blog will be displayed unlike refer traffic, most refer traffic don’t really convert because they are not targeting your keyword but blog title to either learn more or fine-tone their thought about the post however there is always positive and negative part for everything, it’s not too good to solemnly depend on search engine for traffic to avoid any havoc from Google panda, hummingbird and penguin update.

Many have lost their thigh through this update and they are yet to recover fully from this unfavourable hit but this cannot happen only refer traffic, the traffic will keep coming but it may not convert as such when compare to search traffic.

Conclusion: Since both work for good except that they don’t equally convert, it is advisable to focus on both to increase our conversion rate taking the advantage of using one stone to kill birds at the same time. And now, it is time to answer the question, organic traffic vs refer traffic, which

    Hi Adesanmi,
Organic traffic always has an edge on referral traffic as It is one time effort then just keep maintain it while for referral traffic you always be curious in finding ways to generate it. Both are good for blog as they boost ranking and revenue as well. Thanks ade for sharing this analysis.

It’s nice to read your thoughts again. Just as you opined, organic traffic converts better. But what if penguin or hummingbird update affects your blog? Then you lose out – simple! I strongly advise referral traffic and direct traffic too. In essence, write for both Google and your readers…that way, you’ll never lose out!

    Hello Ade,

What a lovely article you have here. Everyone seem to be talking about traffic in the last few days. I do believe organic traffic brings more conversion. Organic traffic is hard to achieve, but one you have gotten it, it is equally hard to maintain. Referral traffic is a short-term, you get the instant buzz and it vanishes. Organic traffic would always be there.

If I wanted to choose, I would choose neither but “direct traffic”, that’s the ultimate and a dream from all bloggers.

It’s really interesting title my friend. To know which one is best we need to evaluate the result base on our target.

I was believe that organic traffic always great to increase PPC income but soon I realize that my conclusion is not a hundred percent correct. The best thing we can do to measure is to compare our target, result and method being applied to get the traffic. From there we will understand which one is truly best to convert. We are the only one who knows this because only us who has the access to analytic tool of our website :)

    Great post my friend
