00 8 Reasons why you are not getting search engine traffic

How do you feel when nobody read your blog quality content, Happy or Sad?  How do you feel when your new post cannot be found on Google Search engine even with the exact blog title? Blogging successfully is subjected to your blog traffic and unique visitor per day and that is the blatant fact behind successful bloggers.

I have come to noticed that great and successful bloggers are proud of showing their blog Google Analytic report, comparing both increase and decrease in their blog unique visitors every month most especially when given their monthly income report, what they were able to cracked in, in the their previous month but to my surprise most of us bloggers can’t show off their folks Analytics report when it comes to showing our blog Google Analytics, comparing our blog unique visitors and returning visitors as the case maybe. One of the most important aspects of Google Analytics that I have come to notice is to tell you more about your blog activities and where your blog visitors are majorly from, what brought researchers to land on our blog, the certain keyword that landed them on our blog but to my surprised many bloggers find it difficult to even have certain percentage of their blog traffic from search engine, although many bloggers don’t have much interest in targeting search engine traffic rather they preferred refer traffic to search engine traffic because it’s easy to target a quite number of audience  using social network without a specific keyword most especially when you have grown wings in the community which guaranteed a quick traffic and quick sales outside Email list building unlike search engine traffic which may take a while before it start coming.

In this post I will share with you why you have less traffic from search engine since search traffic is the best traffic from my view and the best way to have last long traffic.

But before I revealed to you the secret behind search engine traffic, let take a look on what search engine traffic is all about from my own end.

Search engine traffic: Search traffic is the opposite of paid traffic, is referred to as traffic brought to your blog page from a web page, when a researcher is searching for a specific keyword and many refer to search engine traffic as organic traffic (still the same). The level of search engine traffic a website/blog received depend on the quality of its content, target keywords, ability to target a researchers keywords and ability to position the keywords properly in their post.

Below points are the likely reasons why your blog post failed to receive quality search engine traffic or organic traffic.

1. Site not indexed: Getting your blog indexed is the number one reason that will bring search engine traffic to your blog, submitting your blog for search engine to index will bring organic traffic to your blog. For bloggers on wordpress, you can make use of and after the activation of the plugin, submit your sitemap via Google webmaster tools and over the time your blog will be indexed and start receiving search engine traffic or organic traffic as the case maybe.

2. Keyword research: Getting search engine traffic without targeting what people are searching for will be very difficult. Getting organic traffic need to do with findings on what people are really searching for,  the type of keyword they type in search engine, the level of the keyword competition.

After the death of Google keyword tools, many find it difficult to research on the keyword they can target to bring organic traffic to their blogs, yet they forget about Google keyword planner.

Doing keyword research is like doing offline research when an offline business is to be established in a particular area, putting into consideration nearness to the market, topography, geographical location, availability of raw materials and many more.

3. Keyword abuse: This may sounds funny but many find it difficult to understand. Atleast, targeting keywords must feature in your blog post for atleast 10 times depending on your post quantity.

Many blog plugin SEO accredited alteast 12 times for a keyword to appear in a 4oo worth of articles. Use most related keyword when targeting a certain keyword like when a searcher is searching for search engine traffic, some may search for organic traffic yet they are searching for the same thing but in different format. Wise use of targeting keyword will ranked your blog higher than your competitor.

4. Keyword in blog title: This I don’t value as such earlier before this time, but if you are on wordpress and you make use of YOAST plugin, you will discover that including your targeting keyword in your post title/headline is an important factor to get good SEO result in your SEO page analysis. So, if you want to ranked high in search engine and start getting search engine traffic, you definitely need to include your keyword in your headline or post title.

5. Low content quantity: This is to tell you that your blog post is not thorough enough. It’s through that minimum blog post is 400 words but there is nothing bad in it if one writes 600, 800, and 1000 words for thorough explanation of what your blog post was/is. As a matter of fact, if the total word on search engine traffic on this blog is 450 and someone else published same article with 1500 words, there is more tendency or chances are that, that such blog will be ranked higher than mine. Creating quality and unique content require thorough explanation so that none of the research information will be hold unto you.

6. Content sharing: I don’t mean sharing your content on social media on this headline, but I mean how many tweet or Facebook share do you have per post? The more your blog is being shared or tweets, the more reputation it earns from search engine. I once read a post with over one thousand shares and tweets and this was to tell me that it’s a wonderful and informative post and this cannot be compared with post that has just 2 or 3 shares. Creating a sharable content will earn your blog a reputation from search engine and will definitely increase your organic traffic.

7. Blog linking: The only and successful way to reshuffle your blog post often is through linking your post internally and externally. There are many values associated with linking your blog post, it gives more value to your blog, it reduces blog bounce rate. Building your backlink with a reputable and authority blog will give you chances ahead of your competitor on search engine.

8. Image optimized: Optimizing your blog image for search engine will increase you organic traffic from search engine. First and first, in optimizing your image for search engine it is advisable to your keyword or post title as your image name, use alt image clue, and if you find it difficult you can search for plugin if on wordpress to optimize your blog for search engine.

Conclusion: If as a blogger, you fall victim of any of this category, the tendency of getting quality traffic from search engine will be very limited.  Making keyword research will help your blogging ministry, and writing quality content that revolves round your blog keyword will definitely increase your blog search engine traffic.

    Hi Adesanmi,

Yep, these are all legitimate reasons why people may not be getting traffic from the search engines.

In the beginning I just thought it was about the keywords but I eventually learned just what you shared here that it’s so much more. Google really looks at so many different attributes so if we don’t have all of those in place then we can’t complain that we’re not getting the traffic.

I know when I shared my favorite plugins I mentioned Google XML Sitemap and a few of the bloggers didn’t realize it was necessary. A few of them had been blogging for awhile so I was surprised to learn that they weren’t aware. That just goes to show you how many other people aren’t aware. If they read this they definitely will be.

Thanks for sharing and hope everyone has everything in place.

    Hi Adesanmi,

While I have to admit that I don’t spend a lot of time focused on SEO like I used to in the past. Getting traffic from the search engines can be awesome, especially if you are ranking for terms that get searches.

I don’t spend a lot of time trying to rank on the search engines anymore because I don’t want to place my business in Google’s hands. While I still get search engine traffic it’s not my main focus anymore.

Implementing your tips can definitely help anyone get more organic traffic. Thanks for sharing have a wonderful day.

    Hi Adesanmi,

I agree with your reasons, and yes, blog linking, image optimization, indexing your site, and making sure that your keywords are placed in the right places is essential.

However, it’s actually not necessary nowadays to concentrate all that much only on SEO with Google and it’s recent updates. In-fact, having a lot of keyword variations is what works better I think if you want to rank. Nor are shorter posts much taken to by Google, who now prefers posts that are 1500-2000+ words. So, with things changing so fast, we do need to be careful of what and how we write.

All that matters at the end of the day is we give quality content to our readers, and yes, the social shares are proof enough of your content too. I was amazed at one of my posts that went viral on Facebook and has received over 3000 shares! And another one that received over 270 pins on Pinterest. So, concentrating on what you write matters most, all other things are secondary, isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend :)

      Madam Harleena,

Google is really frustrating bloggers about their update this day which is making some SEO tips invalid. Giving quality content to our visitors should always be out topmost priority as a blogger, however, it’s not always all about the quantity of the post but the quality.

    Hi Adesanmi,

All good points for getting search engine traffic.

Just wondering, how do you like the Google Keyword planner? I’ve mostly used paid tools but just wondering if you have any advice on how you use keyword planner and maybe some of the downsides or are there any :-)

    Thanks,

      Hi Liz,

Google keyword planner cannot be compared with the formal one, there are lot of set back in the new GKP and some of it keyword are paid. You can still make use of Google trend instead of paid tools.

I think organic traffic is the most important traffic source. And you have to try to rank well among all search engines. I recently submitted my blog to bing webmaster tools to get better indexed by bing. Of course, someone needs to do much keyword research to get good results. Targeting a keyword with strong competition is much more difficult than targeting one with fewer web searches but weak competition.

All your tips are right and should be followed and i think that sharing on the social media really adds to the blog traffic.

Thanks for this article and keep up the good work.

It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers will make good content as you did then internet will be a lot more useful than ever before.
