5 Dos of blog traffic

Many bloggers quit not because of any other thing except quality traffic, either from search engine of refer traffic; there is no other reason that bloggers can really prove why they stop blogging if not for traffic, some don’t give a damn of whether they monetize their blogs or not with Google AdSense since there are other method that can still be used to monetize their blog.

It’s true that targeting what people are search for on search engine with the use of Google Keyword planner might rank your blog very high on search engine when properly optimized for search engine and even with the new Google hummingbird algorithm, bloggers are good to go yet some bloggers still find it very difficult to channel or drive quality traffic to their blog.

                                           5 DOS OF BLOG TRAFFIC

There following point are worth considering when writing our blog post for maximum traffic even directly from search engine.

1. Publish regularly: Not just posting regularly with junk post but a fresh content that have not been indexed by search engine for once which are not reharse, when fresh content is been published always, this will make your blog search engine friendly which will increase the chance of getting organic traffic from search engine which means more new readers are likely to find/discover your blog right from search engine.  Publishing quality content always will create a loyal reader for your blog and this will boost your blog traffic and even increase your blog subscribers.

2. Write effectively: What matter most in blog-o-sphere is creating an engaging post that are shareable by readers and enhance some reasonable comment.  As a blogger, writing effectively is what will keep our readers on our blog, although nobody is an Island of knowledge but atleast our writing skills should be 75% okay. Proofreading your blog often and often before publishing will help you to discover any error or typo-error. Read on how to become a good writer to fine-tune your writing skills so as to make your blog more communicable to your readers and this will increase your blog traffic, page view and reduce your blog bounce rate.

3. Attractiveness: Beauty is in the eyes of beholder, an attractive blog has the tendency of attracting more readers and retaining its first timer than unattractive blog which is likely to send away visitors. Although some of us bloggers don’t understand the techniques of customizing our blog, then you can high an expert to help you out with that so that your blog will look more professional and arrest the interest of the readers.

4. Be smart with what you have: Getting traffic is not easy for beginners, most especially newbie webmaster who failed to learn from the best or choose a blog mentor that can serve as an online tutor but notwithstanding as a blogger, you don’t need to be scared and believe it’s not possible, as a matter of fact, you can make use of your friends and family for a start, employ them to share your post with their friends and that is what we called common sense because common sense is not common. Always inform them about your latest post so that they can help you to share your post whenever you publish new post.

5. Create relationship: Blog-o-sphere is a wide world where meeting people are the very first thing as far as blogging community is concern. Read other blogs and leave a comment, I mean reasonable comment and at the same time respond to your blog comment. Madam Adrienne Smith is mainly focus on building relationship and the blog is really doing great with many great blogger visiting the blog very day for what she have to offer for the day.

Conclusion: The number one thing blogger need to succeed in blog-o-sphere is quality traffic, the livelihood of any blog depend  solely on the level of it traffic, however, driving quality traffic to our blog is a must and this can only be achieved if we understood how  to drive traffic to our  blog following blog traffic ethical method which I believe that with these tips even a newbie webmaster can do it if properly followed.

  5. Hi Dotun,

One thing I noticed about publishing a blog post; you’ll get a high spike of traffic on the day you publish and those spikes starts going down until you publish another post, this is one of the disadvantage of not publishing in regular manner.

Attractiveness is also the next on my mind, I’ve never been satisfied with my blog design and I won’t stop changing my theme until I get the perfect design of my choice.

Your points are outstanding buddy, I noticed relationships has a good role to play on generating traffic and getting to know more bloggers.
More power to your elbow mate, have a wonderful day.

  7. Hi Adesanmi,
A nice writeup about what works for a good blogging journey. Yes, you are right in saying that publishing quality content is the most important task as Google as well as for the readers, “Content is the king”. A regular frequency is also quite important but overpopulating a blog could be dangerous. Blogging is all about interactions and according to me, the most important aspect that can bring a whole rush of new and genuine organic traffic to our blogs. Thanks for sharing such deep insights as it will surely help the bloggers who are placing their first steps in the arena of blogging.

Definitely yes, overpopulating a blog could as well be so dangerous to our blog, however I think an aggressive blogger only post two-three post everyday if not in news and entertainment niche but with blogging niche it could so dangerous because it’s expected of us to give quality content to our blog readers. Happy to see you here.

  9. Hi Adesanmi,

What a pleasant surprise to see me mentioned here. This is why I blog, you just never know who you’re going to help along the way.

I remember when I started this journey I would hear some of the same things. People would give me their suggestions of how to drive traffic to their blogs. The issues I ran across was no one told me how to go about this.

Visit Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. but they didn’t tell me what to do so like every other idiot out there I just spammed them with my blog post. Wrong!

I think for the most part that use to work a number of years ago to an extent because there weren’t as many people online as there are now. But just commenting on someone’s post and sharing with them your views on what they wrote definitely goes a very long way.

It’s like a process you have to go through so having a specific routine every day will definitely help build up that presence and you’ll start seeing people showing up. Ah, the beauty of blogging.

Thanks for sharing this and mentioning me here. I have no doubt your follow up with the don’ts will be very helpful as well.

  10. 5 stand out so much Ade! Relationships make this game. Meet as many people as possible. Promote them aggressively. Help them. Comment on their blogs. Good things flow back to you – aka more traffic – if you help others get traffic.

    Thanks Ade!

I think one of the most important (if not THE most important) things is to build good relationships with other people in the industry – that’s what it’s all about for me! Well, that and offering helpful advice! I haven’t been blogging for long at all myself and I’m actually quite amazed at how quickly these relationships start building, not to mention how much I’ve learnt from interacting and connecting with other bloggers.

  15. Hi Adesanmi,

I has been a while since I visited you! I am glad that I am back to read this wonderful post of yours.

Traffic is indeed very important. You are so right about providing fresh quality content often. How often is enough? A blogging mentor advised that doing at least 2-3 times a day is great. Ray Higdon, a famous network marketing leader, blogs every day! My aim is to gradually increase my frequency to at least 5 days a week by the end of this year.

I also picked up on your last point. Adrienne Smith is the other model blogger that I admire. Her relationship building efforts are well rewarded – with lots of traffic & great friendship!

    Thanks, Adesanmi!

    • Madam Viola,

I thought as much and am indeed very happy to have you around again. Publishing content depend on individual preferences as far as am concern and it also depend on individual niche, there are some niche that they will have to update everyday like news and entertainment niche, and inability to update their blog often may earn their blog low credit with old and same information. When I started this blog, I published almost everyday but as time goes on and I discover I have to attend to some offline stuff to balance my turf I switch to atleast twice a week averagely which I believe it’s still okay to keep my blog but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t publish more than that if am chanced.

I think I should have dedicated the relationship point to Adrienne smith because I learnt a lot from her blog building quality relationship with my blog readers. Welcome back once again Ma!
