Anybody can just dash out to the internet to set up a blog either with free domain name or custom domain name and start writing content but limited number of people that blogs make reasonable cent out of it. If you really want to make money blogging then, I guess you need to proceed further.
There are clear differences between starting a blog and a blog that will end up generating thousands of page view and unique/organic visitor monthly.
Running a successful blog depends on the blog set up, but there are many things that contribute to a successful blog that earns money at the end which are we are going to be considering here today
1. Relevant niche:This is where most blogger make a great mistake when they want to start their blogging career, if truly you want to build a blog that will end up bringing in some cash every month, this stage must be carefully taken care off.
Google keyword tool can be so much useful here, search for a blogging niche with a very good traffic monthly and see maybe you can handle it diligently, and while using the Google keyword tool to do this, do make use of “exact match” to search for a precise keyword.
One of your early and last long major goals for blogging is to rank high on Google search engine with your blog niche, but it’s however not certain that this dream/goal can be achieved if a wrong blogging niche is chosen.
2. Reasonable blog platform: There lot of contemplation from people for choosing the right blog platform for a start, although wordpress is better but I will prefer blogger platform for a starter and later migrate to wordpress.
3. Blog URL : After deciding on which platform to operate on, the next thing is your blog URL; you can either use blog free domain or buy a custom domain but it’s advisable to buy a custom domain and a host for your blog . Do take note that, you blog URL must be able to speak 50% of your blog content and rich in keyword.
4. Content presentation: This one of the most important part of every blog and that is the more reason why many blogger reiterate always that content is king. Your blog visitors are the buyer of your blog content and if it is not unique, definitely they will stop buying (visiting).
Before publishing any article, you may need to ask yourself about the importance and effect of the article to the niche and if you can see reasons why you need toy publish the article; definitely you will have more visitors. Your blog presentation should include your blog related post to further show some related post to your reader in conjunction with the one they are reading at hand.
5. Quality content:This is the basis of your blog traffic. Only quality content will drive thousands of visitors to your blog but if the article is not moving, does not pass any message, etc. they will definitely leave and your blog will lack reader’s engagement.
Since your blog content are not unique, real, and genuine, nobody will opt in for you blog mail update. Therefore if truly you want to build a successful blog that will earn you money at the end, you must make yourblog content quality, and one of its kind always
6. Search engine optimization: Many bloggers suffers this most especially on blogger platform who doesn’t understand blog SEO unlike wordpress with yoast plugin for content optimization but bloggers blogger can still optimize their blog for search engine through their blog title, permalink, useful keyword, image alt text etc.
7. Consistence:If all the above steps are properly handled but we shun consistence in blogging, definitely nothing will come out of it since article will not be publish on a regular basis, there will lack of determination, and at the same time focus will be the last thing.
8. Blog promotion:The pillar of every successful blog is promotion, without promotion, nobody will know about your blog not even you closet friend let alone search engine. And thank God for social network like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and all other popular social networks. After publishing a quality content they will be need to let people know about it either through ping, or sharing it on socialnetwork using third party website.
9. Monetization: This is the final point but most important aspect of blogging. After you have successfully built a successful blog, you can now start to think of how to earn from it, which program is it suitable to monetize your blog and pay you commission for either every sales, or click , and all the like.
Finally: Making money blogging can be difficult if wrongly followed but if the rudiment of blogging is understood, making money blogging is easy with quality, unique, and real content.

Interesting write up.
I think nowadays, you need to focus on traffic first before getting any income from blogging. Also, you got to 'play smart' when it comes to monetization. This means that you need to 'sell' to the right traffic to get the sale. Focusing on general traffic won't give you much accept pennies
